Deduce

On the Dot #1

One target. Trust your timing.

Today's target

17seconds

Start, count in your head, and stop on the dot.

No ticking. No moving hands. Just you.

How to play

On the Dot tests your internal clock. Each day everyone gets the same randomly chosen target between 5 and 25 seconds. You can try again until you finalize one daily result.

  1. Read today's target, then press Start the clock.
  2. The clock runs silently. There are no moving hands, ticking sounds, elapsed numbers or progress bars to help you.
  3. Press Stop the clock when you think the target time has passed. Space and Enter work on the button too.
  4. See your elapsed time, how early or late you were, and your score out of 100.
  5. Choose Try again to restart, or Finalize result when you're done. Finalizing locks in your daily score and marks the game complete.

Exact timing earns 100 points. Each second of error costs 20 points, down to zero, with scores shown to two decimal places. Early and late cost exactly the same: stopping at 13 or 15 seconds for a 14-second target earns 80 points.

A new target arrives at midnight Eastern time. Your result counts toward your stats only after you finalize it. You can then return to it or share it with friends.

Past puzzles

Replay past targets for fun. Archive attempts do not change your daily result or stats.

This is puzzle #1. Past puzzles will be listed here from tomorrow.
